You will find that many cars have a maintenance-free car battery, but if you are one of the few which do not you will need to frequently refill the water in the battery, especially in summer. The water tends to evaporate much faster in the warmer seasons than in the colder. Firstly, when preparing to add water to you car battery make sure that you extinguish any cigarettes or open flame as the batteries emit hydrogen which can be explosive when charged. The process is quick and very simple, just turn your engine off, locate the battery, remove the vent caps and clean the surface of the battery. You will need to fill up the battery sells up to just below the inspection hole. Make sure that you do not overfill though. Then you just put the vent caps back on and you are set. It’s a very simple process and takes no more than 15 minutes, and if you have a home water distiller you don’t have to run to the store each time you have to add water to your batteries.
