Distilled Water Sent to Help Flood Victims

At a time when heavy rain, flooding and landslides are causing havoc around the world, many organisations are extending a hand to help those in need. Smart Communications Inc, the Philippines’ largest wireless services provider, has been lending a hand to people affected by the floods in both Southern Leyte and Butuan City, by sending distilled water to families, as well as providing internet connectivity in St. Bernard town to help with their relief and response effort; being able to communicate with people all around the world has, as Mayor Rico Rentuza commented, been of utmost importance, as he thanked Smart for their assistance.

Not only have the company aided the relief effort by providing essential technologies, but many volunteer employees of Smart have also given their time to assist staff at call centres operated by the city government, in cooperation with Urios College and the Philippine Red Cross, which has been monitoring the flooding and rising river levels caused by unpredicted heavy rain.
