Myths about Distilled Water

There are quite a few misconceptions about distilled water, one of these is that during the distillation process any minerals that may benefit the body are removed from the water – therefore tap water is better for you because it still has those minerals.  This is completely false!  If we were to really on getting the minerals we needed by drinking water, we would need to drink a ridiculous amount of water each day to get the recommended amount. For example we would have to drink nearly 2,000 glasses of tap water each day to get a decent amount of Iron into our bodies, and that’s not mentioning the extra 600 odd glasses we would need to get the calcium our bones need!

Water should just be hydrogen and oxygen, it is much better (and would require less trips to the toilet!) by relying on the food we eat to provide us with the minerals we need.  It makes  a lot more sense to drink distilled water along with a healthy, balanced diet to give our body the best chance of keeping away from illness. Our bodies gets the goodness it needs out of the fruit, meat, vegetables and everything else that’s part of a good diet.  Tap water may have the tiniest amount of minerals in it, but it can also contain a whole host of other quite nasty stuff that we would never dream of putting into our bodies on purpose.  It’s important to try and dispel these myths about distilled water because it quite simply is healthier for us to drink it and avoid drinking other types of water.

There is also a myth that because distilled water does not contain these minerals that it will somehow take minerals out of your blood and organs once you’ve drunk it, this is not so. In fact it’s quite the opposite, the pure distilled water you drink will go around your body picking up any bad minerals or chemicals and helping your kidneys get rid of them.
